Peter tells us to cast all our cares on the Lord, which is a command, not a suggestion. How? Start by admitting to what's burdening you. Next, trust God cares for you and knows about your burdens. Finally, surrender to the Lord. But after you surrender, don't take them back.

Trying to control your circumstances or a person is a response to fear. So, if you struggle with control, ask, "What am I afraid of?"

If you had to prove your worth to your family, you may still seek approval from others. One way to grow is by surrounding yourself with people who genuinely value and appreciate your worth.

Do any of these four signs look familiar? If so, you may have been raised to be a people-pleaser. Galatians 1:10 says, "Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant."

Before you try to reconnect with a toxic person, pause for a moment and ask, "What makes me think it'll be any different this time?"
