Rethinking How We Teach Shooting to Beginners Most coaches start with form. We start with outcomes, intention, and variability. Here’s a modern approach to developing shooters. A thread. 🧵

The most important outcome of youth basketball is love for the game, igniting the motivation to continue playing. The seriousness, dedication, & deliberate practice come later, but they never truly happen without that internal drive burned through playing the game & having fun.

One of the reasons many coaches over index on "playing hard" is it requires less skill and knowledge as a coach than teaching a team "how to play". Also you get a quicker bump with hustle than you do with learning how to play. Esp prevalent in youth hoops.
