April 22, 2024: 28-year-old Molly Ticehurst was found dead in a home at Forbes, NSW, this morning. Her partner is charged with her murder. Molly is the 30th Australian woman killed this year & the 10th woman killed in the past 22 days.

I’ve noticed a slew of recent articles in the SMH reporting uncritically on this topic. They’re obsessed with the myth that explicit teaching is some new silver bullet that’s going to ameliorate all other variables. Bizarre and annoying.

I’m a bit over the whole explicit teaching vs inquiry learning ideological argument. I don’t even know why it has almost become some people’s identity. It has never been one against the other.

Dr Stephanie Wescott at Monash University, who researches how so-called manfluencers radicalise boys and young men online, said: 'Misogyny is an ideology.'

Re: Bondi: Mentally ill people are NOT disproportionately violent; men with grievances and a false sense of entitlement are. Conversely, women disproportionately suffer from mental illness and almost never commit such acts. Misogyny and toxic masculinity are the through line.

Remember the 1 common denominator in all the recent tragedies we’ve witnessed in Australia is male violence. Male violence against women is the core issue. We need to confront the ideology that underpins it & fully invest in strength based prevention & education with boys & men.
