SPF (selfish play fatigue) is a real condition. It only effects a small percentage of the population as most observers have no real knowledge of the game. Symptoms include anger leading eventually to apathy. It is a highly contagious condition that can lead to excessive losing.

Coaches want players to play defense, but run offense. They practice defensive principles because they don't know what the offense will do. But they memorize plays without knowing what the defense will do.

I’ve spent the last 5 days at a couple of beaches…1 thing that stands out is that a high% of dudes can’t throw a football. It’s embarrassing and they have no idea. Not being able to throw dimes or bombs is problematic. The coach in me wants to give some advice.

A reminder for youth basketball coaches starting their season: Stop wasting so much time putting in set plays - most of them don’t work anyway. Teach your players how to space the floor and recognize opportunities to create advantages. That’s what actually translates to
