Our lab's latest work using UCEs to untangle beetle phylogeny dropped today...super cool study led by Grey Gustafson and collab with Alana Alexander and Stephen Baca on the phylogenomics of Adephaga. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Scientists being bros. The labs of Haworth KU answered the state’s call for extraction supply donations for #COVID19 testing. There was a whole other pallet upstairs and more coming. The Short Lab joined KU Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, KU Natural History Museum and others at University of Kansas to pitch in.

Biology is Awesome: I propose a new full-credit course offering The University of Chicago for international students threatened by the ICE ruling. We will meet in person, fully distanced, on the athletic fields, for a lecture over the PA system, with readings and discussion on awesome biology.

I’m presenting tomorrow at the #EntSoc2020 #SysEB business meeting at 5:58 EST on my upcoming project in dung beetle systematics with Nicole Gunter please feel free to tune in!

Taking over the Harvard Museum twitter today, so follow along and learn some cool things about the Entomology Collection Museum of Comparative Zoology

Very excited to say that Stephen Baca will be defending his dissertation on Monday (!) June 28 at 10am Central Time on the Evolution of water beetle family Noteridae. Feel free to DM for the zoom link.

Finally, some fossil-based age estimates for most Adephaga major lineages! Also combining UCE, RNAseq and WGS is doable and very useful. Cool team effort led by Stephen Baca with Grey Gustafson, Alana Alexander and Harlan Gough onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/sy…
