This Poster for British Railways beautifully captures my beloved Kent. This is ‘The Garden of England’ by Frank Sherwin, from 1955. So perfectly depicting a Kent village at this time of year with trees in blossom and exactly how I think of the area…

It looks like another beautiful day here again…my early morning garden wander is my ‘thinking time’ for the week ahead and the return to lectures.. and I have noticed a surge of red in my garden..

“It is now May, and the sweetness of the air refresheth every spirit: the sunny beams give forth fair blossoms [...] It is the month wherein Nature hath her fill of mirth, and the senses are filled with delights" - Nicholas Breton

What a fantastic episode of Gardeners World..I know Malverleys well having been seven times over the years..never this early in the year..but very clever to use a single garden as a backdrop…and venture off to viewers gardens…and the urban Mayfield Park..more of this please 🙏
