My house from when I was born to 4 years old and the view we had of Wishaw Goods Yard. We lived in the tenement with the dormer roof windows that was our living room… with a shared outside toilet .. bathing was in the Belfast sink or a tin bath !

Looks like I’m going to have a busy shift tomorrow ! A 50mph speed restriction will be in force all over Scotland throughout Monday. Some Anglo Scot services are terminating at Carlisle / Newcastle so please check with your TOC web page before travelling. Stay safe out there !

An early morning call out to a tripping out of OHL in the Hamilton area. Duly attended with my OHL colleague and branches found touching OLE from 3rd party trees. Power off and branches cut back with pole saw, OHL energised with no further tripping .. jobs a good one !

What a day non stop since 0645 with various call outs. Safely evacuated passengers from a trapped train after a tree from out with our boundary fell upon the OHL pulling the wires down tripping out the section. Acted as RIO and worked with my OHL colleagues to initiate repairs.

Royal Mail trolleys that have missed the railway so much , decided to break for freedom courtesy of the wind power from Storm Floris. Given a ticking off for not having the proper permits to travel lol 😝 Strapping burst with the pressure of wind force.. all removed & secured.

My home simulator based on G1000 operating suite. I have built it from scratch and configured every button to operate as on a real aircraft .. Based on a Cessna 182 but can be used for Kodiak 100

Good afternoon it’s great to see Motherwell busy with people using the train as their choice of transport for the Oasis concert & The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. On standby to respond to any operational issues along with out of hours in call to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Good morning from Uddingston with the station gardens and hanging baskets in full bloom. Attending the funeral later of my retired signalling / SSM colleague who worked at Motherwell SC. Chris was my mentor when I was 20 as a Class F signaller at Motherwell. RIP big man

The MOM has lots of roles and one is to attend environmental issues such as flooding. Based on criteria of water height above or below the railhead we can run trains at 5mph or close the line to all trains. These were ones I attended on the WCML at Lockerbie are a few years ago.

A busy day today with a freight train failure .. luckily trains could pass via the bi di to service station and back onto the WCML. Loco attached to rear and wrong direction movement made to clear the line .

An Interesting piece of kit fitted to the cement wagons. After a recent derailment with a seized axle .. this monitors the axle condition live and flags up any issues direct to maintenance control. A live bit of hotbox detection !!

The first Motherwell Station built by the Wishaw & Coltness Railway. This station was south of the current station and serviced the mainlines only. It later became Motherwell Goods Station being demolished, lines built over with the construction of the shopping centre.

A cracking picture of a Park Royal DMU railcar at Lesmahagow Junction Motherwell. Lesmahagow Jn box can be observed at the rear of the train. The Motherwell P-Way offices are to the right recently demolished for the Scotrail train-crew car park at north end of platform 1.
