Important though perhaps not surprising finding from Amanda Raffoul: Discrimination is associated with ED symptoms among Middle Eastern American college students. Almost a third (29.9%) of the sample (N = 9000+) reported disordered eating symptoms. #ICED2024

fMRI research by @phkung and colleagues found that the habenula (a region of the brain) may play a key role in the processing of negative thoughts. This work is now being extended to people experiencing binge eating. #ICED2024

Results from our 2nd annual Body Kind Youth Survey, launched today, continue to show the concerning status of body image in young people aged 12-18 in Australia. Over half say they are dissatisfied with how their body looks & for many, body image has a daily impact on their lives

Identity (sense of self) has long been linked to anorexia - but with little research evidence. Led by Scarlett Croce, this paper shows how identity functioning improves across illness & recovery stages - suggesting that improving identity may be important for achieving recovery.
