As part of mental health week work gave me an extra 45 minutes on top of my lunch break to do an activity that I enjoy, so off I went to the ever faithful Turtle Dove site. So special to see three birds purring in the trees and chasing each other.

We enjoyed 16 hours of sunshine here in Shetland yesterday, but it seemed to 'rain' Red-backed Shrikes with over 20 individuals making landfall in the isles during the afternoon - including two in our garden! Here's a male I photographed at Virkie enjoying the lovely evening sun.

Highlight of my stay in SW France so far was finding a Black Woodpecker with nest hole. A first for me - what a beast!

The tagged White-backed at the Jbel Moussa on the Moroccan coast of The looked to attempt to cross into Europe today but bottled it!

STILL 2 White-backed & 4 Rüppell´s Vultures tantalising close Europe!

Over 600 Griffon Vultures (pic) were less hesitant !

Saudi Arabia Day 2: worthy of a post by itself as one of the stand out highlights from the trip were the nesting Sooty Falcons on the isolated islets off Farasan Island. I would strongly recommend anybody visiting to add this to their itinerary. More pics to come from the island.
