Evening, #Bolton and #Farnworth friends. Please have a look at this if you have an interest in Moses Gate Country Park - it only takes a few minutes will be really helpful for this wonderful project, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Link in the RT. Thank you. 🙂

Former Doctor's house & surgery (I think), and later Larkins' Restaurant, corner of North Road & Ward St., #StHelens. Now apartments. It was built at the turn of the 20thC & converted post 2012. #Lancashire #LookUp

The Albion, on the corner of Scott Street (this side) & Battersby Lane, #Warrington. Built for Greenall Whitley in 1896, a classic of its type. GII listed and well worth a visit (cash only). #PubFrontFriday (yes, I know this is the side!) #Lancashire

The Eyam Cross, St. Lawrence's Church, #Derbyshire. Prob C8/9. The top of the shaft and bottom of the cross are missing, and it would have been rather taller originally. The designs are linked to Northumbrian sculpture, rather than Hiberno-Norse. #StandingStoneSunday

I had the pleasure of playing the Red Lion a few times in the 2010s. It was part of a quietly thriving rock, punk & metal circuit at the time, & Burslem still had have a run-down buzz about it. It is sad to see it has closed, & the state of other buildings in Simon's thread.

Detail from Greenwood's 1818 map of Lancashire, showing part of the West Derby Hundred. It conveys nicely how seemingly modest #Billinge Hill (179m) commands the mosses and farmland of the South #Lancashire plain. #MapMonday

The now famous tiled shopfront of P. Galkoff Family Butcher, in situ at Pembroke Place, #Liverpool, 2017. It has since been removed & rebuilt as a star exhibit by Museum of Liverpool. #TilesOnTuesday #Lancashire. Photo my own.

Excellent! I had a preview tour a few weeks ago, thanks to the ArchaeologyUK #FestivalOfArchaeology. It will be good to visit again now that it is properly prepared for visitors. The North Henge in particular is a magical spot.

One of many beauties in Bishop's Castle, guarded by Sid James & Tommy Cooper. The town is one of the most characterful in the county - and country. #AdoorableThursday #Shropshire

#ErmineStreet, looking south just after the point it crossed the River Nene, at Water Newton (Durobrivae). The A1 swings in from the west to join the alignment. Pic from 1976. #Peterborough's suburbs & services have since encroached mightily from the left. #RomanRoadsFriday
