It is an open secret that former politicians use their knowledge and connections to help corporations secure government contracts. Yet Australia has some of weakest restrictions on lobbyists in the world. My #CleanUpPoliticsAct would change that. theage.com.au/politics/feder…

“One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss.” “Which means that Copenhagen, a city of 1.2 million people, saves $357 million a year on health costs because something like 80% of its population commutes by bike.” grist.org/biking/one-mil…

In 1968 Finland banned for profit Education, the few private schools that exist in Finland have to reinvest any profit they make or pay it back to parents. It has been in the Top 3 in Education for the last 20 years. There should be no profit in Education or Healthcare.

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT Melissa & Chris Bruntlett

If you thought deciding not to investigate Robodebt was, um, “disappointing”, the NACC walking away from the Coalition’s blatant corruption of massive grant schemes is another whole level of failure.thenewdaily.com.au/news/politics/…

The sentences handed to the five Just Stop Oil campaigners are utterly disproportionate. Four and five years in prison for peaceful protest? This is what you might expect in Russia or Egypt, not in a supposed democracy. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

What a contrast. In Norway the Govt taxes oil companies, pays the billions into a sovereign wealth fund, and university degrees are free. In Australia we give away much energy wealth and our students pay more into Treasury than the mining giants 🤦‍♂️ #auspol theguardian.com/australia-news…

Labor & Libs have resisted calls from myself & the crossbench to improve our woefully inadequate lobbying laws. OECD also saying it needs to happen. The duopoly are making rules that suit themselves rather than rules that are good for 🇦🇺 theaustralian.com.au/nation/politic…

Imagine if Elon turned X's Grok AI tool into a TruthBot to instantly fact-check/deconstruct anti-science conspiracy nonsense before it was able to be posted on X: nonsense from climate change-obfuscating fossil fuel shills, flat earthers, faked moonwalkers? O, and on CNs

More than 70% of Australians support a complete ban on gambling advertising, but the Government still seems to be moving ahead with its partial ban. The Government must listen to the community & implement a full ban on gambling advertising #auspol #politas #BanGamblingAdvertising

Interesting poll questions. I picked the public sentiment only about half the time. The public support for housing should be a wake up call

So what lies have you been taught that you may have to unlearn (or already have unlearned)? I think literacy is better defined by our ability to rationally interegate contentious issues. Especially those with nuance or high emotions

The duopoly inaction on housing is as appalling as their inaction on curbing fossil fuels. One impacts us now, the other in the comings decades

Mine leans more left propaganda, but then I follow way more left accounts. Bizarrely I get loads of baseball crap - never had any interest in that. This shitness of the For You algo has always been suprising
