Today, eight years ago, we marked the 150th anniversary of the Barnsley Oaks Disaster in the Town Hall with a screening of a film commissioned to mark the anniversary.

My lovely aunt and godmother Kathleen who we lost yesterday, just eight weeks short of her 96th birthday. A life well lived. I'll miss her love, support and her telling me family stories from the 1930s ❤️

TEN years ago we welcomed Horizon CC Official students to Barnsley Archives & Local Studies as part of a project to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta. I blinked and a decade passed by!

Enjoying a re-run of James Stevenson's illustrated history of the Lancaster family - one of Barnsley's most prominent families. Delivered by Barnsley Archives & Local Studies and Barnsley Civic Trust.

Eight years ago today we took delivery of the 13th century Barnsley Market Charter from the National Archives, in a huge sealed case. It proved popular with visitors to Barnsley Archives & Local Studies and Experience Barnsley Museum during its stay.
