Just as importantly, we are working with relevant federal agencies to complete the process of assigning Starbase a new ZIP code and officially renaming the area. At that point, residents of Starbase will be able to update your driver’s license!

It’s official: Starbase is now an incorporated city in Texas. With local governance in place, we are excited to continue building the best city for our community.

On Wednesday, June 18 at approximately 11 p.m. CT, the Starship preparing for the tenth flight test experienced a major anomaly while on a test stand at Starbase. A safety clear area around the site was maintained throughout the operation and all personnel are safe and accounted

Starbase City officials are tracking and are actively supporting the response at the Starship's testing site, alongside Cameron County, our other local and regional partners, and SpaceX. There are no hazards to residents in the area. We will continue to provide updates.

Starship moved to the launch site at Starbase for preflight testing

The City Commission has nominated SpaceX for a Texas Enterprise Zone designation for GigaBay, which will bring 500+ new full-time jobs to the Rio Grande Valley. Once approved, the designation would allow for more growth opportunities and long-term benefits for surrounding areas.
