Brent Headrick has been recalled by the Twins. Louie Varland will return to AAA. Headrick is typically a starter but will perform as the Cole Sands role. Left handed, which is always a plus.

The Headrick family drove through the night from home on the outskirts of Chicago to New York when he got called up, then drove up to Boston to follow the Twins on their road trip. He's on the mound for his MLB debut.

Brent Headrick, on taking the big league mound for the first time: "I thought I was going to be nervous, and I wasn’t. When I got out there, I was wondering why I wasn’t nervous. ... But I was like, ‘Whatever, let’s pitch.’"
