ONE YEAR. An entire year in a Russian prison when he should never have even spent one day behind bars. Journalism is not a crime, and the world deserves a free press. It’s time for WSJ’s Evan Gershkovich to come home to his family.

50 WEEKS. It gets harder to write these updates as we approach a year since our friend and colleague Evan Gershkovich was detained in Russia simply for doing his job as a The Wall Street Journal journalist. The fight to free Evan continues. wsj.com/evan

My best friend Evan is on the cover of Time magazine. Evan is a top-notch journalist who always wanted to tell the story, instead of becoming it. But the Russian authorities decided otherwise when they arrested him on false charges almost a year (!) ago. It's time to get him out

I'm always down for more Rachel Bachman soccer stories, and I can't wait to see Samantha Mewis build out women's soccer coverage:
A few years ago, U.S. midfielder Sam Mewis was named the best player in the world. Today, she’s retiring at age 31.
