Faith of any kind doesn't require evidence, but action, to be seen.

To paint the next canvas though the galleries may never call. To open your heart to a woman though the world feels unsafe for children. To keep showing up at the daily practice, even while the old certainty is gone. Faith is the repeated act of fidelity to meaning.

The questions we have about race and gender guarantees suffering, because it treats uncertainty as a moral failing.

Meaning enters life through voluntary responsibility. Freedom without responsibility dissolves into nihilism. Responsibility without freedom becomes tyranny. The balance is ethical adulthood.

The artist does not “express a viewpoint” or "illustrate a reality," but submits to a form of knowing that disciplines himself. To know is to be shaped by what is known. Knowledge is not neutral observation but participation in the creative act.

To "call upon the power" has nothing to do with uttering names or phrases, nor is it a test of sincerity. When called, The Power inhabits a space and time where it is summoned by the authenticity of personal ritual. It exits as a presence not bound by effable measurements of man.

My fate cannot land on water. For a while, I drifted. I was illegible to destiny, locatable only by my loud desire that refused to walk with Time. I deceived myself with intensity instead of continuity and lived in romantic repair, narrating my wounds and performing happiness.

My fate will lean forward when others step away. I must speak my aim without decoration or cloak of poetry. Authenticity is an invitation to a presence that precedes words; something ancient, silent, and more real than language.

Here's an artist that shocks me with his skill, but I find no books of his work. Sir Gerald Festus Kelly. He was knighted (obviously), painted famous people, and was a Royal Family favorite. I think his work is magnificent. (His sister married Aleister Crowley.)

Ego isn't the enemy forever. After sufficient dissolution, a conscious, flexible ego becomes the vehicle for authentic expression again. There's an unconscious narcissism to removing preferences. By evolution of will the animating spark is given a chaotic and messy fire.

The long fixation on the feminine, functions less as love than as a cosmic placeholder for the lives that could not yet be lived. She is a permanent potential for the man who cannot generate love.

The King, the Warrior, the Magician, and the Lover.

I was going to watch my workout video, but windows had to update, then the mouse drivers had to update, then the computer had to restart and install a network update, and after an hour of updates I no longer had time to watch my video or workout. Technology is moving backwards.

I'm older now. Not too old, but old enough that I can't dance without looking misplaced. Unfortunately, I did not accumulate the accoutrements of maturity in age. Sometimes I still dance like an old bird looking for a likewise and silly mate; a smiling veteran of embarrassment.

Well calibrated arrogance is sexy. But it's difficult to measure a man in a workplace with women. False braggadocio warrants a good-punch-in-the-nose under a male hierarchy. Unfortunately, modern women are now an audience for the boastful bandits like my handsome, lying, self.
