📍You've heard of the Olympics, but what about the Polympics? Last week at the Pole, participants grouped into six teams, each representing their own "country" with custom flags and national anthems. Read more about Week 32 here➡️ icecube.wisc.edu/news/life-at-t… 📸: Tom Wetzel,VMF/NSF

Awesome picture by SPT winterover Josh Veitch-Michaelis. Sky is starting to get a little brighter down there, with roughly a month before #sunrise, so won't be able to see such clear #aurora for much longer!

The sky is getting even brighter at the South Pole, with #sunrise only 3 weeks away. However, in this picture, by SPT winterover Josh, the sky is being brightened by the moon! The snow buildup on the back of SPT is also noticeable at end of winter. #Antarctica #southpole

📍As the slow sunrise continues, the South Pole is still in a period of nautical twilight and has yet to see the sun fully rise. 📸:Connor Duffy, IceCube/NSF Read more about week 34 here➡️ icecube.wisc.edu/news/life-at-t…

Only a couple weeks to go to #sunrise, getting pretty bright outside in this view looking back to the #southpol station from DSL/SPT, with BICEP/Keck array also in the foreground (pic from SPT winterover Josh). #LaborDay

A big upside of the sun closing in on the horizon for the first time since May is that we can finally see the crazy polar terrain again. Beautiful wind-blasted sastrugi as far as the eye can see...

Even though SPT didnt participate in this 345 GHz observing run with Event Horizon 'Scope, we are really excited about these observations! The 1st Milky Way black hole image was groundbreaking — the next could be even better space.com/event-horizon-…

Going to be a busy month in the machine shop finishing up the new geographic South Pole marker for 2025. also, these safety glasses are peak style and it will be really difficult to not steal them when I leave.

🌈The aurora borealis lights up the night sky above the Big House at NSF Summit Station, Greenland. Wonders like this add to the awe of a landscape that draws researchers from near & far to conduct cutting-edge research! bit.ly/3ZiWsyi 📷 Sam Dorsi/Polar Field Services

📍Though the sunrise isn’t official yet, the South Pole is beginning to brighten, and station members are ready to wave goodbye to the long winter nights. Read more about week 35 here➡️icecube.wisc.edu/news/life-at-t… 📸:Connor Duffy, IceCube/NSF

We had an awesome opportunity to chat with Artemis II mission specialist Christina H Koch over the weekend. Her spaceflights are cool and all but she also holds the distinction of being the only astronaut to have wintered at South Pole station! NASA Astronauts

Less than 2-weeks until #sunrise and the horizon is getting much brighter! Kevin Zagorski (but colder) pic of SPT with the moon also up. Even after sunrise, the sky is still relatively clear to microwaves and we plan to observe through the entire Austral summer (Nov thru Feb)! #Antarctica
