Changes to #AccessToWork Contains list of items no longer funded as deemed standard. If an employer has to purchase them in order to employ a disabled candidate are they "standard"? Who thinks the disabled candidate will get the job?! Don't cut disability employment support!

Just an update: We did eventually get in and we stopped the DWP consultation and did one for all disabled people to oppose the Green Paper. ITV Granada Reports Elaine Willcox

I expect all the media personalities and MPs who are constantly shouting about the DRAMATIC RISE in disability benefits claims will all be taking this research really seriously

Just a reminder that #Labour ministers sat on the 'Triggers to Claiming Personal Independence Payment' report - which explains exactly why #PIP spending has been rising - until well after the #PathwaysToWork green paper was published. disabilitynewsservice.com/dwp-delays-pub…

And here's why #Labour ministers and their #Tory predecessors didn't want the report published: because it shows no evidence to support the call by successive governments for cuts to #PIP: disabilitynewsservice.com/research-that-…

**Important** Quietly published DWP reports: Additional work coach support makes almost no difference to disabled claimants employment prospects, in spite of being one of the main tools for getting people into work as set out in the Green Paper

My reaction on behalf of Joseph Rowntree Foundation, on today's labour market statistics and the Government's plans to cut disability benefits. The threat of widespread hardship among disabled people, unable to replace the incomes they lose out on through work, is even starker.

"We should force the unemployed to do care work for their benefits!" Who would YOU want coming into your home to do intimate care for you? I'm disabled. I don't want a random unemployed person angry to be here. I don't think you'd want such a person caring for your mum either.

I don't get it. 100 Labour MPs have written to Starmer voicing their concerns over the cut to the LCWRA element UC, but clearly don't realise that few will get it anyway because access will be via PIP, which is being made harder to get. Do mps not understand the system?

Not going to reshare posts to draw attention to it but EPUT stop posting photos of patients on social media, it's wildly inappropriate, unethical and potentially unsafe. See our statement published with National Survivor User Network here nsun.org.uk/news/stop-taki…

As far back as 2015 there were big rifts within the disabled "community" Invisible vs visible impairments Direct vs online campaigning Welfare vs accessibility support The "social model" This post and it's fallout shows we've learned little How can we win if we fight each other?

Response to my IRR states that those already past retirement age will not have their eligibility assessed against the minimum 4 pts criteria. What is not clear is whether this is because they are not routinely fully reassessed, or whether they are being exempted from the changes.

I'm struck by this line in the Green Paper: "The removal of the WCA is part of the fundamental reform to decouple financial support from capability to work." I can't see how anyone ever thought that was a good idea. Should people who can't work be left destitute?

Every time I see people spew the idea that mental illness is just an 'excuse' used by 'shirkers', and that it shouldn't entitle people to disability benefits, I think about Errol Graham, a mentally ill man who starved to death after losing his benefits. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… Over 60,000 disabled households were homeless last year, up 75% since 2019 Now #Labour want to cut #PIP and #LWCRA. This will push 250,000 people into poverty + affect 700,000 who already are. We will see even more homeless. Tell your MP to vote against.

It is interesting that a DWP report recommended more PIP not less. So is the current attack on disabled people politically motivated? What are the reasons for throwing disabled people under the Brexit bus? gov.uk/government/pub…

"Everyone should have face to face assessments!" In the past 25 years, I have had 10 #DLA / #PIP assessments. In the past 10 years, 4 #ESA assessments. All face to face. All awarding me the highest rates no issue. At what point is this just silly? Rupert Lowe MP

Sarah 👩‍🦼 (@spoonydoc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I used to do this as a kid and get into a lot of trouble for it from mum, but it was soooo worth it. And given that I became disabled quite soon after, I now feel fully justified! Carpe Diem!
