We adopted a second cat! She is still pretty scared (and traumatised) but warming up more to us every day. It's a lot of fun and also a lot of work. Every day is a new adventure with her, as she can do things our Threelegged Grandma Cat hasn't done in years anymore. 😆

Here we have the first Christmas card - it had to start somewhere. 1000 were printed. Designed by John Callcott Horsley for Henry Cole in 1843. #PennyPost #Christmas2023

In Iceland there is a tradition called Jolabokaflod - Christmas Book Flood. This is when loved ones present each other with books on Christmas Eve & then read them together. The books should be new & booksellers do most of their trade at this time of year. #BookWormSat #Yule

A reminder that the 12 Days of Christmas started yesterday. The celebration, worship, feasting, and rest go on for another eleven still. Make merry. Take naps. Do a puzzle. Eat leftovers. Go for a walk. Drink it in. No rush. Takes the pressure off a bit, doesn’t it?

Happy Twelfth Night, the traditional "end" to the Christmas or holiday season...but you can keep going if you want to. Keep your sparkly lights and candles and evergreens, they're comforting in the cold and dark season of winter as we await spring's return.

if you’re someone who still reads for pleasure, you’re heroic. if you’re able to unplug from all the chaos of our entertainment culture and disappear into the warmth and quiet of a book, that is a superpower and I’m very glad to know you.
