How do students move from slowly decoding, word by word to being able to read words quickly and easily? You can thank orthographic mapping for that. bit.ly/3xjMA75

Syllable Division strategies can unlock the world of reading for older students who struggle to decode words. Older students may have a strong oral vocabulary and once they can decode the word they are then able to put that word into the context of their reading.

Teaching syllable division patterns (ways to cut words apart) and syllable types (guides to pronunciation) gives readers have a map to discover how to read longer phonetic words. As strategies are applied more skillfully and automatically, the landscape of reading is widened.๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“š

I love summer tutoring, especially how much I get to know each of my students since itโ€™s primarily one-on-one. Here is my back-to-school treat for my littles! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“–
