Target species on my family holiday in Roquetas de Mar was Marbled Duck, a species I've seldom seen since my first sightings back in 1993. Took me two goes but very pleased to connect with this declining dabbler.

Poor record shot of the Black-winged Pratincole that had the goodness to hang about on gods country side of the South Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire border this afternoon.

Had to be done! Once in a lifetime opportunity to see Spectacled Eider given I'm highly unlikely yo ever be in the position to spend 10k+ on a trip to Akaska. A truly amazing bird.

Female Ring necked duck at Carsington Water. A subtly beautiful individual. Female Lesser Scaup present but distance and the Derbyshire gloom ensured that there would be no photos. Similar story with green winged teal at Pugneys on the way home. A hat trick of American ducks!

Really pleased to see the Wombwell Water Pipit as soon as I got into the hide. Even better, there was a second bird there too, which has begun its transition into breeding plumage, unlike the first
