Sen. John Glen raised the spectre of GPS attacks back in 1998 in a question to Space Rogue during the L0pht Senate testimony. The vulnerabilities aren't new, just the attacks. It's the story of cybersecurity. vice.com/en/article/m7b…

1999: The article 'HacK, CouNterHaCk' was published in the New York Times Sunday Magazine. A pretty in-depth story about the hacker collective L0pht, its members, and their pursuits. Many interesting quotes - some a glimpse into 1999; others prophetic. web.archive.org/web/2022022321…

One of the most influential hacking groups was L0pht. In ‘Space Rogue: How the Hackers Known as L0pht Changed the World’, Space Rogue tells his story & it’s a fascinating one. It’s my RSA Conference book of the month review. rsaconference.com/library/blog/b…

Defcon has morphed from a community event to a government event in many ways. The policy and voting villages, for example, are dominated by government or companies now, and people who worked on issues for decades are missing from the conversations or feeling unwelcome

I’ll also add that the CTF area and chillout areas have been a safe haven for me when I’ve needed to sit or detach a bit. Twice I sat down today to read Space Rogue’s book and just take in the ambiance. The chill music in the background has been on point! Just a great day in all.
