Tory Bruno As noted by Sam Deen, based on these PRELIMINARY observations the Centaur will make a very close return approach to Earth on 2029 Feb 27; estimated 2953 km perigee but could be less given residual venting. This makes it all the more important for its trajectory to be public.

•It will lead to the dismissal of 5000+ NASA employees who support these missions and citizen science projects, likely including me. •It will terminate the Citizen Science for Earth Systems program that funds about 1/3 of NASA's citizen science projects.

The Minor Planet Center has designated 3I/ATLAS = C/2025 N1 (ATLAS), or informally "Comet ATLAS", a new interstellar comet that is currently about 4.5 AU from the Sun and screaming through the solar system at 58 km/s (130000 mph)
