Our latest work on cell division is out. FtsEX:RipC in M. tuberculosis presents unique features compared with G(-) as a surprising inclined arrangement. A nice joint effort with Luo Min and Chris Sham Labs at NUS against this nefarious pathogen. nature.com/articles/s4146…

Irrespective of election results, the next UK government needs to make sure that UK universities and research institutes are able to attract the best global science talents. Wellcome appreciates the study by The Royal Society on "tax on talent" theguardian.com/education/arti…

John-Arne Røttingen Wellcome The Royal Society The argument is always put in terms of the costs of a researcher and family of x. How many ECRs are in that situation really? Whilst UK visa costs are high, the real issue is pay. We need an entire new postdoc payscale nationally and a recognition that scientists are valued.

Wonderful work by Michael Hohl and Emma Banks probing how the bacterial Tad pilus system motor powers both pilus assembly and retraction. Thank you to the Tung Le lab for the fantastic collaboration.. 👏 nature.com/articles/s4146…

My co-first author paper now out in nature SWR1 specifically exchanges H2A/H2B dimers for Htz1/H2B dimers in nucleosomes. Here we show double dimer exchange can be processive, explaining how SWR1 ‘proofreads’ dimer identity in a nucleosome. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Fantastic work by Hohl et al. on the Tad pilus system, revealing CpaF's role in bidirectional processing. A must-read. Exciting collaboration between Harry Low’s Lab, Tung Le, and Emma Banks - congratulations to all authors on this achievement!
