I had to try a minimalistic style inspired by Mwaayk | Commissions Open. Why? Because I love its simplicity! No highlights, just base color and shadow + black. It took me a while to figure out how to work with it. (Used slightly modified Lospec "Sweetie 16" palette). 320x176px #pixelart

As an indie dev, loving old games and making retro ones is like shooting myself in the foot. Players want something fresh and unique. And "Retro" VS "Fresh" are on the opposite sides of the spectrum. I'm so lost! 😆 What should I do? (Images in various styles created by me).
