A magical thing just happened. I was walking in midtown and bumped into this pop-up concert at 56th and Broadway. A brilliant idea of WTF Bach, with great classical music and amazing musicians in an empty commercial space just 1 block from Carnegie Hall #Kudos

Great concert of the Filarmónica Ciudad de México under Maestro #ScottYoo at the Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral in Mexico City. Unfortunately the space looks better than it sounds: Dry, distant and mono... and with HVAC noise destroying all delicate passages.

In the lead up to the 20th anniversary of 9/11 you may have noticed NYC's skyline light up. If you've ever wondered about the "Tribute in Light" origin story you'll want to watch this inspired and moving video from our sister company Fisher Marantz Stone - youtu.be/ue1x8umoHAM

This space at Brooklyn's Navy Yard hosted one of the most impactful opera performances that we have experienced in the last few years. Just image Verdi's Macbeth in an industrial space with a gantry crane! linkedin.com/posts/soundart…

Wool felt is biodegradable and renewable, moisture resistant, self-extinguishing, with thermal and acoustic insulation properties. Another possibility as a potential sound absorbing element in your next project. This picture shows one of the beautiful designs of Anne Kyyrö Quinn.

The limited acoustic volume (for a large seat count and 80+ orchestras), a platform behind a proscenium opening, the shoebox shape with two tiers, stained glass windows, and sound diffusing elements are key to understand the acoustics of Palau de la Música Catalana.

Laminated glass was added during the 1990 renovation (by architect #OscarTusquets and acousticians #HiginiArau and #LotharCremer) to improve the sound isolation and low frequency response of the hall. Stained glass was particularly “leaky” at low frequencies.

The shoebox shape, like the Musikverein Wien, with two wrap around tiers, like Boston Symphony hall, create an enveloping sound. The significantly smaller volume of Palau de la Música Catalana produce a much more clear, less reverberant sound, than the halls in Boston and Vienna.

The halls Musikverein Wien Het Concertgebouw & Boston Symphony are the acoustic ideal thanks to their luxurious sound & amazing orchestras. Despite the acoustic differences, the architecture of Palau de la Música Catalana creates memorable & extraordinary experiences for both audience and musicians
