Here’s a look at the Pilet’s back panel design: CNC aluminum build, open access to the GPIO with a protective plastic cover, and perhaps a built-in kickstand to keep it propped up and ready to go.

Here’s a sneak peek at the final draft of the #schematics of our battery management module for Pilet. Once we launch, we’ll be releasing both the schematics and #kicad PCB files as open source.

Putting the final touches on the battery module PCB of Pilet. To make it smarter, I’m adding a low-power MCU (ATtiny412) along with a battery monitoring chip that connects to the Raspberry Pi via I²C. This setup lets the Raspberry Pi OS control and monitor the batteries directly.

The PCB for Pilet’s battery module is almost production-ready. Huge thanks to #pcbway for their awesome support and sponsoring our prototyping.

Here’s a preview of the LTE module for Pilet. The design is finalized and off for manufacturing. Next, we’re enabling calls and internet. Would you prefer calling via terminal command or a graphical interface? Let us know in the comments! kickstarter.com/projects/souls…

We're completely redesigning the keyboard/gamepad module for Pilet, but before we dive in, we'd love to hear your ideas and suggestions. kickstarter.com/projects/souls…

Here is a preview of Pilet's NVMe module which is now in manufacturing and testing. We’re considering using a knurled thumb screw instead of a traditional screw for securing the SSD. This would make installation and swapping SSDs much easier, but it might slightly increase

Pilet's stereo audio module design is now complete. It features the TI TLV320AIC3105 codec, a Knowles microphone, and a 3.5mm TRRS stereo audio jack. The speakers connect via JST SURS connectors, making them easy to swap or upgrade.

We've just added some extra safety features for battery module. We've integrated an eFuse chipset + battery protection for overvoltage, reverse polarity, overcurrent, and short-circuit protection. Safety first!

This week’s update: cooling on the Pilet. We’ve focused on two things: keeping it cool under load and staying quiet. Both Pilet 5 and 7 use a solid aluminum chassis that doubles as a passive heatsink. We also designed a custom aluminum heatsink that connects directly to it.
