New novel by Judith Heneghan launches tomoro! “Set against the hardscrabble landscape of the Catskills, this novel is richly reminiscent of Elizabeth Strout, full of spiky individualistic types whose flawed fealty to their beliefs take us in surprising, moving, directions.”

I am mapping employability skills on English at Soton programmes, which involves a lot of cutting and pasting. I have therefore accidentally turned 'self management' into 'elf management', and feel the medievalists in particular will be very much here for this life skill.

Loved the *#QueerJoy as a Digital Good* symposium on Avenue Campus School of Humanities at University of Southampton last Friday. It was thought-provoking, it was fun, and the lunch was excellent. More of that kind of thing, plse, Southampton Digital Humanities? (That's our very own Jared Mustafa Holzapfel presenting, English at Soton) 🙂

Good to see our Head of Creative Writing, Toby Litt, has found something good to read this summer. Here he is in Guardian Books reviewing Sam Mills' The Watermark. theguardian.com/books/article/…
