Today’s lighthearted look at Cockburn Street of yesteryear shows evidence of the businesses being run from numbers 54 and 55.

For those who complain about the proliferation of tartan tat shops in the Old Town (I’m one of them!) here’s an old advertisement showing a couple of shops offering shortbread and Edinburgh rock for tourists over a century ago. I guess it’s always been so.

Been working away. Spotted these bollards across the Square Mile on my walk to the office yesterday. Who does a World Heritage bollard/barrier better, City of London or Edinburgh? World Bollard Association™ Edinburgh World Heritage I know who gets my vote, and it ain’t Embra!

Today in one of the Old Town’s best spots for (largely) avoiding tourists pouring in and out of tour buses literally just metres away. The peaceful and beautiful physic garden.
