An amazing first week at UNC IMS and excited for the rest of this semester!

While it may be a soggy morning at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s marine lab, nothing is going to dampen our excitement heading into our 2nd week of classes! #GDTBATHuncc

I had a very informative trip to our impressive UNC IMS facility in Morehead City last week, meeting with faculty and undergrads. I tagged along as our excellent students went out on Bogue Sound in the rain to collect sediment cores to understand how NC estuaries evolve.

Dreams coming true UNC IMS. Can we do it again soon?

Shark science and so much more! It was such an eye-opening experience to be a part of the longest running shark survey and to see the research process executed so well by UNC IMS faculty.

Just finished a bit of field work today for my capstone project on living shorelines. My group is working on sediment deposition and geomorphology. Can't wait to see how this project develops!

Gave my first invited seminar UNC IMS this week! We talked about fisheries sustainability and the diversity and complexity of the “people component.” Take home: “people” are not monolithic, one size/policy does not fit all. Thanks for the invite Janet Nye!
