16 yrs ago I learned about a program in Chicago organizing parents in schools. I wrote a book about that program because I was inspired. Then someone brought the program to Boston. And today, a parent from that program was sworn in as the newest member of the School Committee.

The program in Chicago is the Parent Mentor program inspired by parents, organizers, and educators in Logan Square supported by the beautiful @LSNAChicago. Shout out to organizers like Leticia Barrera @_bridgetmurphy who helped train the ldrs in Boston

And it was Ssyp Boston that brought the program to Boston and have been steadily nurturing and supporting a movement of parent leaders who are transforming our schools

Michelle Wu's experiences caring for a mother with a mental illness, raising two younger sisters, and now, raising a young family of her own have shaped her policy visions and led her to believe local government can always do more, she says. #bospoli bos.gl/mP1IOYu
