Sad to see Hakai Magazine go. The team there is remarkable and assisted me in reporting one of my most life-changing stories about the fifteenth anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami. Thank you for everything. Lots of love and respect.

One of the most moving pieces of partner impact I have witnessed during my time Pulitzer Center. India's Supreme Court just banned caste-based work in prisons after an exposé by Sukanya Shantha & Jahnavi Sen of The Wire. The chief judge thanked the reporters for their work.

Trying to start something new in January next year. If you are a writer in India (published or aspiring) and want to get together to discuss texts, do get in touch. The idea is to explore how we read differently and develop inquiries as writers.

On Diwali, our festival of lights, Ram Chander ji, a pavement barber, is not at work, but he just lit up the part of the Delhi pave upon which he administers his stall with candles… Happy Diwali, sir

Few things more beautiful than these tiny Deepavali lamps at the entrance of a rural public library at dusk. The light of knowledge for sure. #librariesforall

In 1947, India's literacy rate was 12%. In 2011, it was 74%, but female literacy 65.5%. So it's thrilling to see older women who couldn't go to school in childhood, now able to sit in the rural library, learning to read & write. All respect to their magnificent effort. 🌷🌿⭐
