You will often see dogs out in parks, if a dog off lead approaches you stand still, keep your arms still, if you’re nervous cross your arms over your chest and stay calm, wait for help, if no one is around, slowly walk away and observe the dogs body language.

Are you safe around water? Would you know how to help someone in danger? In an emergency sometimes it is hard to remember lifesaving skills, consider downloading a first aid app onto your phone, such as the free British Red Cross App.

Did you know that most dog bites involving children happen at home, and surprisingly, by a familiar dog? Shockingly, over 1,700 children ended up in the hospital last year due to dog bites. Visit dogstrust.org.uk/dog-advice/lif… more information.

Exclusively breastfed babies do not need water until they start eating complementary foods at around 6 months. Giving water before then can reduce their milk intake, affect your milk supply, and hinder your baby's weight gain.

Some common baby products are unsuitable for sleep. The safest place for a baby to sleep is in their own clear, flat, separate sleep space. If your little one falls asleep somewhere that isn’t firm and flat (even if you’re there to watch them), you will need to move them.

Abusive head trauma can happen anywhere when a parent or carer is pushed to the edge by crying. Friends and family - remember to check on parents with new babies to see how they’re coping. 💬 Check out our website to learn how you can support them: iconcope.org/parentsadvice/.
