10 years after Finland was Guest of Honour FrankfurterBuchmesse we’re launching “It’s Finland again!” to promote Finnish literature in Germany. So good to have two great authors with us today on Minna Canth’s Day, celebrated as the day of equality in Finland: Meri Valkama & Pirkko Saisio.

The Finns can barely believe it: we’re for the 7th(!) time in a row ranked as the happiest country in the world! Is it the weather? ☀️☃️⛵️☔️

I for my part am convinced THIS is the reason for our happiness. Sauna. Sauna. Sauna. 3 million saunas for 5 million people don’t lie. Every soul needs a sauna!

Tonight I was absolutely floored by Maria Baranova’s performance at our Finnish Independence Day celebrations at the embassy. Baranova is a Finnish-Ukrainian ballet dancer and prima ballerina at Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich. Thank you so much Maria. Unforgettable!
