Kristi Noem is among the most well-known female politicians in the United States today. She has the distinction of being South Dakota’s first female Governor and has also served in the State Legislature and the United States House of Representatives.

Our office will be closed on March 29th in honor of Good Friday.

Judith Meierhenry was the first woman to serve on the South Dakota Supreme Court and was instrumental in opening the pinnacle of South Dakota’s judicial system to women.

Gladys Pyle was a trailblazer in many ways. Among her many accomplishments, she was the first woman election to the South Dakota State Legislature, the first woman to be elected Secretary of State, and the first woman from South Dakota to be elected to the United States Senate.

Anna R. Simmons was a strong advocate for women’s suffrage in South Dakota. Anna R. Simmons continues to be remembered for her devotion to women’s suffrage and her zealous advocacy for the causes that she believed in.

SOS Monae L. Johnson was pleased to sign SB 18 this morning. Secretary Johnson is committed to ensuring the integrity of SD’s elections, and SB 18 will allow the SOS to continue in its efforts to combat voter fraud.
