The Western Health Trust has agreed to pause and reconsider its consultation on the future of emergency general surgery at the South West Acute Hospital. It was temporarily suspended at the Enniskillen hospital two and a half years ago.

The SaveOurSWAH Services Roadmap has been formally endorsed by the Council! I'm happy to have proposed this & had unanimous support for it. Our hospital has such potential, & the SOAS plan is comprehensive & would benefit Fermanagh, Tyrone, & the the surrounding border counties.

We wish we could say that this is not normal- but it simply is... Altnagelvin Hospital ED is overwhelmed. We watch this stat on a regular basis and unfortunately this is often the worse wait. Based on the fact the Royal College of Emergency Medicine says 1 in every 72 patients who wait 8-12 hours DIE,
