Who is the 'we' here? The practice (not just 'idea') of mental health user-led research, has been a reality for decades here & internationally (e.g. in my research unit SURE at KCL). Ros Snow was connected to this work. Mind boggling that this doesn't even merit a mention! 👇

What I find most alarming about the debate about assisted dying is that no one questions why a sick or disabled person might want to die Because most people assume our lives are inherently shit, rather than looking at systemic lack of care, discrimination etc And that's ableism

As someone who had a DNR without my consent during critical illness I know there are many pressures of coercion. It was expected a DNR was acceptable. Thankfully I was surrounded by loving friends who demanded it was removed. And here I am... #AssistUsToLive

I think most of my followers know my feelings on Assisted Dying/Suicide but if not, I have no moral issue with the concept. Just until sick & disabled people have access to #AssistedLiving & a society that sees their value, we're not ready. Not by a long chalk atm

this comment from assisted dying campaigner and philosopher AC Grayling has made me feel physically sick those supporters inc Kim Leadbeater MBE MP who deny that there'll be a 'slippery slope' need to come to terms with the fact some people on their own side WANT the slippery slope

This is why we don’t want assisted dying in a country that won’t support us to live. Canada started off with safeguards, too. Now look. They saw a means to reduce the amount of people using welfare services. Read more here: news.sky.com/story/canadas-…

In 2020 I had a DNR placed on me without informing me or my consent in case I caught COVID. It was done to 'save resources for those more likely to survive." People are deluding themselves if they think assisted dying will be just for those that actively seek it out.

Politics is about choices: how you raise cash and where you spend it. Labour acts as if they are forced to cut disability benefits but leading economists say they can avoid it by taxing the super rich. Spending cuts are a political choice. Don’t let them pretend otherwise.
