The upcoming “Effective Science Communication for Western Indian Ocean Scientists” training course is focused on helping researchers, professionals, and communicators across the WIO region bridge the gap between science and society.

Funded by the WIOMSA SCALABLE Program and hosted by the Center of Studies in Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology (CS-OGET) at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, the training is set to take place from July 28th to August 1st, 2025 in Maputo, Mozambique.

Apply for the BRIDGES x WIOMSA School. Taking place in Mombasa, Kenya, from September 22nd-26th 2025, this pre WIOMSA Symposium training focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to strengthen marine social-ecological systems resilience.

PhD students, early-career researchers, and marine practitioners from the Southwest Indian Ocean are welcome to apply for the training which entails active learning sessions, fieldwork, case studies, governance tools, and expert mentoring.
