Remembering Mike Ferriera who passed away OTD in 2014. Mike had his first rides in the BL with Coatbridge in 1974 & then had a few years away from racing in Europe until 1978 when he signed for Canterbury. he would go to ride for Swindon & Wimbledon retiring in 1985. R.I.P. Mike.

OTD in 1981 Phil Crump won the Golden Gauntlets individual meeting @ Leicester. Crumpie & Kenny Carter both finished on 13 points with the Aussie beating Carter in a thrilling run off, overtaking the Englishman on the last bend. Swindon is a Speedway Town.

Yes Andy - DPP Planning are agents for Brandon Estates & The Abbey. In both cases, they put forward arguments (much of which is simply untrue) to redevelop each stadium, yet they are also agents for Swindon Motorsports (Studley Grange) where they argue for a new venue.

Given the past record of those involved, that is a view shared by many, which is why there are calls for any application to redevelop the Abbey, to not be considered until such time as Studley Grange is completed and OPERATIONAL.

Remembering Milan Spinka who passed away OTD in 2024. Milan won the famous Czech Golden Helmet in 1973 & had spells with both Ipswich & Swindon in the British League. He won the World Ice Speedway Championship in 1974 & also rode in two World Long Track Finals. R.I.P. Milan.
