Just a wee word on #readingfc comms. They won't tell you what you want to hear. They may want to, but they can't. They aren't to blame for the radio silence. They're good people doing a job. It's the secrecy behind it all that concerns every one of us. And rightfully so.

Wishing Steve Coppell a happy birthday, and also wishing #readingfc had a manager of his undoubtable quality in charge. But Steve was smart, and worked for a fantastic chairman and well-run club. He wouldn't touch the place with a bargepole now. Who would?

This simply can't go on. You can only sympathise with the hard-working staff, players. They, like every supporter, deserve better. #readingfc

A panic sale to avoid almost certain administration probably isn't the right decision in the long-term interests of #readingfc. It may happen, it may not. But that's where we are. Club continuing to look around.

Ownership protest march and heartbreaking defeat yesterday, Mike Ashley visit today... It's never dull at #readingfc Change can't come quick enough, especially with staff unsure their wages will be paid this week, so I'm told.

Hearing Dai Yongge had agreed a fee with the Genevra Group for the sale of #readingfc...... then upped the price at the 11th hour which scuppered the deal. Given this week's news of numerous redundancies, it just highlights the desperate mess the club is in under his ownership.

Trying to keep my powder dry, but how far is Dai willing to push this? What's his end goal? Can't be money, he has plenty. Total disregard for staff and loyal fans. Clueless, inept, should never have been allowed anywhere near football. Yet here we are. Disgraceful. #readingfc

Hearing Gymshark's Ben Francis is on the verge of becoming the sole #readingfc owner. Name has been mentioned for a while in connection with William Storey and Genevra consortium, and I'm told a deal is almost done.

Just to clarify this came from a #readingfc staff member. Changes are already taking place behind the scenes, so things are clearly progressing. Not Ben Francis as believed, at least we have clarity.

Heard one of the investors involved in the #readingfc takeover has pulled out. Deal still on but rejig required. Also hearing details of their future cost-cutting plans. Cat1 Academy status almost certain to go.

Gather Rob Couhig spent 4 hours meeting and greeting at Bearwood today. Wycombe Wanderers favourite Joe Jacobson becoming CEO and right-hand man. We shall see but could be a couple of weeks before takeover is sealed. #readingfc

As much as I'm enjoying working at the Paris Olympics, and I'm immensely privileged to do so, a part of me wishes I was still on the Royals beat. Having done it for 22 seasons, it's in my DNA. Up the Ding! #readingfc

Au revoir, Olympics. Was a pleasure and honour to work at this iconic event. It brings out the best in all of us. Until next time...

Not sure this adds much to what's already been said, but I hear the main blocker in the #readingfc takeover is ownership rights of the SCL stadium car park and nearby land. Hopefully a resolution will be found soon.
