Starting off our monitoring project of crape myrtle bark scale in DC! Working with Architect of the Capitol (AOC) we will monitor sites over the next few years for these crape myrtle pests.

A great week attending my first Southern Forest Health Work Conference (SFHWC) with the Coyle Lab!

Our research on the ManhattAnt was featured on All Things Considered yesterday! npr.org/2024/08/14/g-s…

The ManhattAnt first turned up in New York City back in 2011. 🐜🗽 Now, thanks to the work of researchers like our PhD student Samantha Kennett, we are learning more about how these tiny ants survive in the big city. Samantha Kennett | Dr. David Coyle npr.org/2024/08/14/g-s…

To quote Jeff Goldblum, "life, uh, finds a way"...even in the middle of New York City. Check out Samantha Kennett (she's in our lab now!) in this great piece by Taylor Nicioli about the #invasivespecies "ManhattAnt" (not an official common name, btw). cnn.com/2024/08/23/sci…

Back in the Capitol collecting ants with some great Architect of the Capitol (AOC) folks!

First Entomological Society of America presentation in the books! And first time presenting my PhD research on crape myrtle bark scale!

Congrats Todd Pierson!
