Smith County Road 431, also known as Jim Hogg Road, will reopen at 5 p.m. Friday, July 18. The portion of road, between CR 472 and CR 41, has been closed since July 9 so a drainage cross culvert could be replaced.

The Smith County Elections Office is closed today, August 11, through Wednesday, August 13, so staff can attend a training. The office, located at 302 E. Ferguson Street in Tyler, will reopen for normal business hours on Thursday, August 14.

Smith County Road 172 will be closed at noon today, August 13, as part of the TxDOT Old Jacksonville Highway widening project. TxDOT has informed Smith County that the road will be closed for three to four weeks. Message boards with detour information are placed around the area.

CR 178, aka Old Palestine Rd, will close Tuesday, Aug 26, so a contractor for TxDOT-Tyler can install water and sewer line crossings. CR 178, between CR 192 and CR 1169, will be closed for about 2 weeks. Please seek an alternate route.

All non-emergency Smith County offices will be closed for business on Monday, September 1, for Labor Day. Offices will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, September 2.
