11 GAA clubs (100+ teams) made bookings with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council in 2024. There are 0 dedicated GAA pitches in the Borough. 2 Cricket clubs made bookings in the same time period. There are 2 dedicated Cricket pitches. Fairness and equality?

18 months later, zero progress on GAA facilities in Antrim & Newtownabbey, yet soccer, rugby and cricket have all seen significant investment. No consultations, OBCs, proposals or strategies for Gaelic games. belfastmedia.com/wolfe-tones-ga…

Despite Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council's claims to accommodate GAA, 2024 full-pitch booking numbers at 'shared facilities' (V36, Allen Park, Crumlin) tell a different story. GAA clubs tried to secure consistent bookings on adequate space, but were locked out.

In today’s financial climate, it’s tough for GAA clubs to navigate funding options. Here are some public grants you could explore: 🔹 Enkalon: enkalonfoundation.org 🔹 Boost: boostct.org 🔹 Biffa Award: biffa-award.org #GAA #Camogie #LGFA

🚨 Graph shows massive disparity in pitch access for GAA clubs at Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council's so-called 'shared facilities'. Thousands of full-pitch bookings for soccer — 13 for GAA. Equality means fair access. 👇

45% of Councils in the North don’t operate a single dedicated GAA pitch. These 5 Councils continue to ignore a significant section of their ratepayers: - Antrim and Newtownabbey - Ards and North Down - Causeway Coast and Glens - Lisburn and Castlereagh - Mid and East Antrim

The Mallusk development highlights the value of empowering local clubs but it’s just one part of a broader multi-pitch solution needed in North Belfast. More action and support are essential, and the County Board should back such forums to fully address clubs' and members' needs.

Stephen McCourt 100% prior to the North Belfast Pitches Forum being set up it was like shouting into a vacuum. It shows the strength in unity and listening to the people in the ground.

What a ICONIC display by David Clifford, he tore Tyrone apart. He has to go down as the Greatest Footballer of all time. Hail💀Hail

In 2024, GAA clubs in Antrim & Newtownabbey faced severe pitch access issues. At peak times, only 2 fixtures were played on ANBC's "shared" pitches. GAA clubs locked out. Fairness & equality?

An Orange Lodge, which bans members from Catholic funerals, opposes the introduction of the GAA in Comber for lack of ‘inclusion’. Incredible.

The GAA is a vibrant, confident and outward looking sporting, community and cultural organisation. Tune into BBC 2 this Sunday to catch a glimpse of that. Jamie Bryson, Moore Holmes & Comber Orange Lodge could learn from the GAA’s community spirit & inclusivity.

This is what Gaels in the North are dealing with. Narrow-mindedness and exclusion extend institutionally. Across the entire North, councils maintain 28 dedicated GAA pitches, compared to 413 dedicated soccer pitches. This is what we’re up against.

🚨 Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council must adopt a Gaelic Sports Strategy to address historic and contemporary facility discrimination. Why?: 📌 0 dedicated GAA pitches. 📌 GAA clubs receiving 0.5% of full pitch bookings. 📌 Only 2 peak-time GAA fixtures in 2024.

This is scandalous discrimination against Gaels, you'd think they weren't rate payers. Surely they can seek redress in the courts....

A recent FOI has shown that in 10 years there hasn’t been a single motion or proposal for GAA pitches brought forward at ANBC. This needs an immediate political response.

Important not to be fooled by the phony cultural war against the GAA on X. Tomorrow there will be 80,000 people in Croke Park enjoying their culture. The 1 million members will still be members on Sunday night. Thousands of parents will sign their children up on Monday. ✌️
