There's a big difference between a yoga teacher and a yoga instructor.

The desire to understand and marvel at the living miracle that is the human body might be the most "spiritual" aspect of yoga practice.

One could certainly make a case that it's a more intimate conversation than the study of any written text.

Even if any of the sacred texts were actually transcribed directly from the mouth of the divine organizing intelligence of the universe....

.... they still would have to have been reduced to the profoundly limited medium of human language as written word....

....with all of its inherent prejudices and constraints. Whereas the interactive investigation of a living body, known as applied anatomy..

...is a direct conversation with the god or the divine or whatever you choose to call that organizing intelligence...

.. and anyone who has undertaken even a casual study of the body will have no doubt that there is an astounding intelligence at work.....

...so I think maybe the word "anatomy" (latin anatomia - to cut) is too reductive or even misleading a name for this yogic investigation....

...any ideas for a new term for the evolving inquiry into our home which also serves as a mini model of the universe?

...because "anatomy" just isn't cutting it.... Pun intended :) And how could anyone say that the study of anatomy isn't "spiritual?..
