Statement from Speaker Mike Johnson on motion to vacate...

'This motion is wrong for the Republican Conference, wrong for the institution, and wrong for the country.”

MTG says the quiet part out loud: her Motion to Vacate effort is to compile a public list of who wants Johnson out and who is good keeping him as Speaker

Reps MTG and Massie do not share who they would want to be Speaker if Speaker Johnson is ousted.

Massie says there are around “a dozen members” in conference that are qualified, but no specific list.

Rep. MTG says she’s forcing the motion to vacate vote next week so that members over the weekend can think about it.

“I'm not irresponsible, I care about my conference.”

Rep. MTG on if the motion to vacate fails…

“If this fails, and… the whole Congress supports the uniparty, let me tell you something that is not a failure. It's a win for the American people because that's the list of names.”

Rep. Massie: “We will fight the uniparty and we will have this vote next week… and I look forward to it.”

Rep. Massie: “I'm going to challenge my colleagues to think about it this weekend.”

Rep. Massie: “I think [Rep. Greene] has gone about this in a very reasonable way. She's given the Speaker multiple chances to resign… to leave.”

“It was a warning to stop serving the Democrats and support our Republican heartbreaks and support our agenda. And he didn’t do it.”
