The Dutch government is implementing austerity measures putting the country on the lowest end of EU countries in terms investments done. The finance minister thinks debt risks to get out of control. Especially on education there'll be big cuts. The debt to GDP rate meanwhile:

The Dutch government has officially asked for an opt-out on the issue of migration "in case of Treaty amendment". Without any other sign of effort to get an opt-out asap anyway. But there is no Treaty amendment coming. So this is totally meaningless. Just a tool to blame the EU

Over het algemeen leiden verkiezingen en nieuwe kabinetten tot meer vertrouwen in de politiek. Dat is bepaald niet uniek aan Schoof I. Rutte IV was eerder een uitzondering.

Wat me opvalt aan het eerste half uur: Het politieke conflict dat Timmermans opzoekt (in zijn verhaal, in zijn voorstellen, en vooral in de interrupties met Yesilgöz en Wilders) is nadrukkelijk het economische conflict. Dat thema verbindt de achterban, maar niet de coalitie

Veel te doen om de opt-out die Nederland vandaag zou hebben aangevraagd op het EU-asielbeleid. Alleen: dat staat niet in de brief van Faber. Het enige wat ze schrijft is dat NL wil pleiten voor een opt-out bij een toekomstige (!) verdragswijziging. Niets over huidig beleid.
