What a lovely use of the portal. The National #FamineWay Commemorative walk ended with the symbolic transfer of a pair of bronzed shoes, representing the thousands of immigrants from Ireland, to us here in New York. Very moving to recreate that journey in the 21st century!

Edith Anna Œnone Somerville was born in Corfu #onthisday in 1858 but within a year she moved to Castletownshend, Co. Cork.
Art training took her to London, Düsseldorf, and Paris; her travels with Violet Martin (Ross) to Denmark. Above all she wanted to be a great painter.
Delighted to find a kind neighbour left this on our doorstep this morning to 'bring in the May'.
