So, SpaceFields Pvt Ltd says that it has just hot-tested India's first Aerospike Rocket Engine. It's funny how these things happen. Just last night I was thinking about whether aerospike engines can really make SSTO a reality having read up on the German MIRA effort.

The turn of events in Bangladesh may well affect the timelines for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project. India has a deep industrial role in that effort as I had discussed in this piece in 2018: neimagazine.com/advanced-reactโ€ฆ

Parallel lines in the private sector for the Tejas family have been proposed quite a few times in the last decade. The chief bottleneck today is the engine. Unless a contingency plan is greenlighted such talk will remain precisely that.

Homing pigeons were extensively used during the two World Wars. Interestingly, a recent article in USNI by a U.S. Marines Captain portrays a scenario where they are used during a fight in the Pacific. He further posits them as a viable communication option during blackout conditions.

Fuel is definitely an issue. Just to illustrate, a 220 MWe PHWR needs about 45 tonnes of U02 annually at around 85% plant load factor (PLF). The answer probably lies in the early introduction of novel thorium-based fuels in existing PHWR designs.

So, the Navy has had to do a 'controlled ditching' of one of the two leased MQ-9Bs in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Chennai.

I am sorry but the case for spending $3-4 billion on some 31 MQ-9Bs is making less and less sense with each passing moment.
