José Manuel Calderón Trilla (@jmct.bsky.social) I once sat next to Dijkstra at dinner. I asked him why he didn't use category theory, as it's the ultimate theory of programming? His response was: "If I was as young as you, this is what I would do. But I'm too old now, so it's up to your generation". This was 30+ years ago.

OK, #scala3 breaks #vi cli in the repl again, apparently due to a move to Jline3. In Scala2 I used `-Xjline:vi`. How is it done now?

I quite like the Erlang syntax, and that of Prolog. Yes they're different. They're not vaguely c-like, and that's a good thing, since they're *conceptually* different things.

Look what I found at my local Half-Price Books :) ML really is the new hotness (Also: the cover is hilarious in a very earnest sort of way.)

I'm old enough to remember when bitcoiners were about separation of money and state, not for the consolidation of bitcoin and state.

Last night my team identified Nix 2.30 and Determinate Nix 3.8.0 were running macOS builds as the root user. We immediately notified the NixOS security team with full details, and stopped distributing Determinate Nix 3.8.0. Please upgrade immediately.

Hey Amazon Help (I'm not stupid -- I know you don't really exist) If you start dropping my stuff off in the rain when there's a well-established, more convenient spot that's covered, it's all coming back.

The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.
