Congratulations to our talented group of #scientists who came 3rd in the National Science Quiz Finals against 9 other schools. 'Which part of the eye contains photosensitive cells called rods & cones which convert light energy to signals to be transmitted to the brain?' (100 pts)

BH Band started F2's Leavers' Assembly with some belting tunes before all the year group had the chance to say what they will miss about being in this part of SJCS & what they are looking forward to in F3. We were also treated to a song, adapted by F2, which was emotive & joyous.

We have been fortunate to have not 1 but 2 Bake Offs happening this week: 1st with F6 & the 2nd with a mathematical theme! The F5 photos show the winners in the different categories. Well done to all who baked at this busy time of the term, all proceeds will go to Wooden Spoon

F4 were given permission in a recent #Science lesson to gently shake trees & bushes to discover hidden bugs & insects before identifying & classifying them. Which were the most prolific & why? #ecodiversity #insects #school #biology

Our Charities Committee gave the visiting guests from local care homes such a delightful afternoon when they came for the annual Summer Party. Much joy was had on both sides from lovely conversations between the ages. The Committee also served drinks & afternoon tea. #compassion

1C's child-led topic this term has been 'Countries Around the World' &, to round this off, the children brought in traditional food from Singapore, Rio, Sydney & Athens. They described their dish before the class (& willing staff who happened to be 'passing!) sampled the food.

Our Buddy system works so well between our F3s, new to SH in September, & our top year group...our soon to be leavers. They have loved getting to know each other throughout the year & had their last #buddy time this week.

This was the 2nd year that children & families in Forms 1-6 have enjoyed our redesigned Sports Day with all athletics events happening on one day. It was also the 1st year we have had a QR code so you could view previous records. #sports #athletics #Houses #sportsmanship

Every child who took part in any event on #Sports Day should be incredibly proud. The day was timed to perfection, with a loud speaker keeping all informed of proceedings & even asking the children what tips they would give & what they ate for breakfast! #TakingPart
